Very Disappointing

So much time and energy was spent making this book and video, I wish I could say it's time well spent and that I learned a lot. But it's more an introduction to an introduction. Like a kindergarten lesson. I don't need to learn how to hold a pencil. At the end, you are given some information, but certainly not enough to justify the price. He is a very talented artist, I wish he could have spent more time on design and teaching his skills. Don't expect more than the very most basic shapes with no artistry or embellishment like you would expect to learn. I wish I hadn't gotten the video too, even less useful than the book.

I wish more DVD tutorials were accompanied with a book. After viewing the DVD, one can use the companion book for easy reference.

Must get both book and DVD for maximum affect. Extremely helpful for understanding and designing your own scroll work.
This is stricly layout and design. No cutting shown.
How about a DVD from Mr. Griffiths on engraving/cutting?

Purchase both the book and CD. The book serves to remind, when you don't have the time to re-view the film. The key feature of this product is though, the CD. The fellow knows what he is doing, presents the material in a logical, understandable and gradual way that lets you know what you are doing. In short, this course is a pleasure to watch. I have tried now for a long time to actually understand enough to draw my own scrolls. Books, CDs... nothing worked, I always drew a blank. Until I started this course. This course has given me a jump-start. Buy both the book and CD...and you will learn scrolls too.

I can't thank Lee Griffiths enough for writing this book. This book is a huge help in understanding scroll design and how to draw them properly. I recommend this book to beginners like myself who are too broke to take a class

As a new engraver, I recognize my need to improve both technically and artistically. I was intrigued by the sample video on this site, so I purchased both the DVD and the companion book. This is the first review I've ever done on an online purchase. I wouldn't be doing one now if I weren't thrilled with my purchase. The material arrived QUICKLY and is everything I hoped it would be. Lee's knowledge of the subject is obvious. His teaching style is engaging, straight forward, and easy to comprehend. Buy the package. You won't be disappointed!

Money well spent!

I was intimidated with drawing scrolls. Mostly because I really didn't understand how to create proper scrolls. Lee explained the hows and whys of drawing/designing scroll work. He took something that I found very frustrating and gave a very simple explanation of how they are made.
I purchased both the book and DVDs. They are both worth the money that was spent for them. Thanks Lee for doing this.
